Biniaraix

A tiny oasis of tranquillity

Biniaraix is a tiny village that is shared between the municipalities of Sóller and Fornalutx. Like many other settlements in the Tramuntana, its origin can be traced back to the Muslim era, and some houses are more than 500 years old.

The village is situated on the mountainside and gives access to a ravine that is highly popular amongst hikers. The path climbs, running alongside a torrent until reaching L'Ofre, one of the highest mountains in Majorca.

The countless charms and beautiful scenes that Biniaraix offers have made it a favoured location for landscape artists. For many years now, the traditional “Trobada de pintors” has taken place here, where for one day painters share their art and their vision of Biniaraix with visitors and other curious folk.

Given its small size, Biniaraix is a very peaceful place, with two bars in the square that the residents happily share with hikers and visitors.
